ReplyDeleteRe the "definition of sword and sorcery" ruckus, instead of arguing about the various ways to specify S&S, why not suggest a good anthology of S&S fiction for people to read?
Then we could say "this is what the genre is like". Something like "The Sword & Sorcery Anthology" by David G. Hartwell and Jacob Weisman might be a good representation of what the sub-genre is and the strengths of its best works.
Glad you got it man!
DeleteGood suggestion. I do think the Hartwell/Weisman is probably a best bet because of its historical breadth (and reasonably sketched David Drake intro). And more easily obtainable than the older anthologies.
