"Wonder had gone away, and he had forgotten that all life is only a set of pictures in the brain, among which there is no difference betwixt those born of real things and those born of inward dreamings, and no cause to value the one above the other."

Men of Iron, Howard Pyle
Any Howard Pyle fans in the house? If so, or if you're looking for fun, old-school, historical fiction adventure, my review of Pyle's Men of Iron is now up on DMR Blog.
Along the same lines, if old-school historical fiction of the medieval variety is your jam, highly recommend 'Sir Nigel' and 'The White Company' by Arthur Conan Doyle.
Own it in hardcover. :-)

Dan: Nice. I have a paperback.
ReplyDeleteI've heard many good things about The White Company and probably need to get busy reading that.
Great piece, Brian.
ReplyDeleteI've seen Pyle's novel at bookstores but haven't read it.
Loved that book when I was a kid in school. Glad to see Pyle getting some attention. He was an excellent illustrator.
